Bermuda-based Bacardi has appointed Matthew Cordiner as global malts ambassador for the company’s portfolio of single malt Scotch whiskies.
Speyside local Cordiner will represent Bacardi’s single malt brands: Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, The Deveron and Royal Brackla.
With more than 12 years’ experience in the whisky sector, Cordiner started his career in the industry as a tour guide for Glenlivet distillery, and subsequently joined Chivas Brothers’ graduate programme.
After completing his studies, Cordiner spent the next three years travelling the globe as a whisky ambassador. He joined Bacardi in 2018 as Dewar’s Aberfeldy brand home ambassador.
Described as a ‘passionate storyteller’ and an expert in ‘immersive’ whisky education, Cordiner will help to promote Bacardi’s malts globally, with the aim of raising the profile of each brand in key markets.
In addition, Cordiner will lead the company’s in-market malts brand ambassadors, and build new concepts through whisky trends.
Ian Taylor, global brand director for Bacardi’s malts, said: “Matthew brings with him a wealth of whisky knowledge and expertise, he’s already been a key player in the success of bringing the brands to life in his previous role and now he will play a fundamental part at a global level in enhancing each of the five malt’s reputation amongst whisky drinkers around the world.”
