Speyside single malt whisky Glen Moray has appointed Stephen Woodcock as head of whisky creation.
Woodcock was formerly part of Distell Group, where he was responsible for single malts including Deanston, Bunnahabhain and Tobermory.
He succeeds Dr Kirstie McCallum, who joined Halewood Artisanal Spirits as master blender in January this year.
Effective from this month (March 2021), Woodcock will be responsible for developing Glen Moray’s whisky range and will also oversee brand owner La Martiniquaise-Bardinet’s other whisky brands, including Cutty Sark, Label 5 and Sir Edward’s.
Woodcock said: “I’m so excited to be joining Glen Moray as the distillery goes from strength to strength. Together with its expert team, I hope to build on the legacy of maturing and marrying different casks, to craft great-tasting whiskies, which will be enjoyed by newcomers and connoisseurs alike.”
In the last five years, Glen Moray has increased global sales by 50%, according to La Martiniquaise-Bardinet. It has grown to be the world’s eight biggest-selling Speyside whisky and the 15th best-selling single malt.
